And another one...

After watching Ganguly, for the fourth time in the innings, getting caught behind the stumps, I went digging among earlier columns -- and found this.
On skimming through it, I find there really is nothing that needs to be added. The Indian captain did very well in the field today, handling his bowlers well, producing the odd inspired masterstroke as when he decided to give Nehra a change of ends, and when he resumed post lunch with his best bowlers, Zaheer and Harbhajan Singh.
The question is -- can he afford to continue carrying his vulnerability to the quicker bowlers? Or does he need to do something about it before it is too late?
As things stand, India will now go into one day mode, after this Test. From here on, in fact, the team will play at home until late next year, when it travels to Australia. At home, Ganguly will not face the problems he faces abroad -- but Down Under, the slips will be waiting again.
Meanwhile, this Test is throwing up interesting statistics -- 99 is the lowest first innings score ever defended successfully in the history of cricket; this is also the first time in history that both first innings scores have been sub-100.
Amazing, that, when you consider that close to 1700 Tests have been played -- including many during the bad old days of uncovered tracks and lethal wickets.
