Australian captain and batsman HJH "Tup" Scott (8 Tests from 1884 to 1886) died aged 51.

1942:
Australian pace bowler Dave Renneberg (8 Tests from 1966 to 1968) was born.

Indian batsman and later coach Anshuman Gaekwad (40 Tests from 1974 to 1984; 1985 runs) was born.

1956:
Australian left arm slow bowler Tom Hogan (7 Tests from 1983 to 1984) was born.

1971:
Pakistan captain and keeper-batsman Moin Khan since 1990 and over 50 Tests was born.

1972:
Zimbabwe captain and left-handed batsman Alistair Campbell since 1992 in over 40 Tests was born.

Australian pace bowler Frank Laver (15 Tests from 1899 to 1909; 37 wickets) died aged 49.

1924:
Sammy Guillen who kept wickets for West Indies (5 Tests from 1951-52) and New Zealand (3 Tests in 1956) was born.

1946:
England off-spinner Pat Pocock (25 Tests from 1968 to 1985; 67 wickets) was born.

1950:
Indian batsman Mohinder Amarnath (69 Tests from 1969 to 1988; 4378 runs and 32 wickets) was born.

1983:
The Burlton Park at Jullundur became the 55th Test ground and the 13th in India when it hosted the India-Paksitan match.Kapil Dev dismissed (lbw) Mohsin Khan of the first ball of the match.

Indian captain and left arm slow bowler Bishan Bedi (67 Tests from 1966 to 1979; 266 wickets) was born.

1949:
West Indian left arm spinner Inshan Ali (12 Tests from 1971 to 1977) was born.

Sri Lanka beat Pakistan at Sialkot by 144 runs to win 2-1 after losing the opening Test of the series.

1998:
India Anil Kumble (against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo) became the seventh bowler to take 200 ODI wickets, while Sachin Tendulkar (127 not out) recorded his 18th hundred of his career. He surpasses the previous record of 17 hundreds held by West Indian Desmond Haynes.

1999:
India's Sunil Joshi takes five South African wickets while conceding just six runs at Nairobi.

1919:
South African batsman Robert Gleeson (1 Tests in 1996) died aged 45.

1957:
England batsman Bill Athey (23 Tests from 1980 to 1988; 919 runs, avg 22. 98) was born.

1962:
New Zealand's medium pacer Gavin Larsen (8 Tests from 1994 to 1996) was born.

2000:
Heath Streak playing in his 99th match became the sixth captain to lead Zimbabwe in LOIs - against New Zealand at Harare.

1884:
England left-arm pace bowler Fred Morley (4 Tests from 1880 to 1883) died aged 33.

1943:
South African left arm pace bowler Charles Vintcent (3 Tests from 1889 to 1892) died aged 77.

1946:
Pakistani captain and batsman Majid Khan (63 Tests from 1964 to 1983; 3931 runs and 27 wickets) was born in Ludhiana in India.

1960:
West Indian batsman Gus Logie (52 Tests from 1983 to 1991; 2470 runs) was born.

1971:
Australian batsman Matthew Elliott (20 Tests from 1996 to 1999; 1171 runs) was born.

1973:
West Indies pace bowler Colin Stuart since 2000 was born.

1984:
The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Delhi was the first ground to host an official floodlit ODI match in India. Kepler Wessels (105) scored his only ODI hundred of his career in the above match although he played for both Australia and South Africa in over 100 matches.

1988:
Pakistani Javed Miandad (107) against Australia at Faisalabad was given out lbw for only the fourth time in 63 Test innings on his home soil.

Indian batsman Ramnath Kenny (5 Tests from 1958 to 1960) was born.

1934:
Australian left arm spinner Lindsay Kline (13 Tests from 1957 to 1961; 34 wickets including a hat-trick) was born.

1934:
West Indian off-spinner Lance Gibbs (79 Tests from 1958 to 1976; 309 wickets) was born.

1941:
England batsman David Steele (8 Tests from 1975 to 1976; 673 runs, avg 42. 06) was born.

1950:
West Indian keeper-batsman David Murray (19 Tests from 1978 to 1982; 601 runs and 62 dismissals) was born.

1957:
England left-handed batsman Chris Broad (25 Tests from 1984 to 1989; 1661 runs) was born.

1982:
Australian left-handed batsman Jack Nitschke (2 Tests in 1931) died aged 77.

1983:
India's Aushuman Gaekwad (201) scored the then slowest double hundred in first-class history when he took 652 minutes to do so - against Pakistan at Jullundur.

1986:
The second Test between India and Australia at Delhi began on the fourth day after tea after heavy rains had prevented a start on the first three days. It was an anticlimax after the exciting tied Test match at Madras just a week earlier.

1995:
Pakistani Salim Elahi scores an unbeaten 102 against Sri Lanka at Gujranwala on his debut.

1997:
New Zealand set to score 286 runs off a minimum 65 overs by Zimbabwe at Bulawayo fell 11 runs short with two wickets in hand.

1997:
Playing in second Test match of his career, leg-spinner Adam Huckle (11-257) became the first to take ten or more wickets in a Test for Zimbabwe against New Zealand at Bulawayo.
