India ready for Zimbabwe challenge, says Dravid

India's recent fighting test series win over Australia at home has toughened the team for its upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, vice-captain Rahul Dravid said on Thursday.

The Indians leave early on Friday for a two-test series to be followed by a triangular one-day series also involving West Indies.

"The wicket is going to be a challenge for batsmen. It will all depend on situations, but the Australian matches have taught us to play in tough conditions," Dravid told a news conference.

India, who staged a fine comeback to claim 2-1 a three-test series against Australia in February and March, will immediately follow their Zimbabwe tour by travelling to Sri Lanka and South Africa for test series.

Zimbabwe would be tough to beat at home despite India winning 1-0 in a two-test series at home late last year, Dravid said.

Team management was confident about the bowling attack despite the fact most of the seven bowlers in the squad lacked experience.

"We have kept a long tour in mind and we are mentally prepared for it," he said."

India will play two three-day matches in Harare (May 28-30) and Motare (June 2-4) ahead of the tests, to be played in Harare (June 7-11) and Bulawayo (June 15-19).
