Andy Roberts 1927: West Indies batsman Michael Frederick (1 Test in 1954) was born.

1947: New Zealand all-rounder Andy Roberts (7 Tests in 1976) was born.

1949: South African fast bowler Arthur Ochse (3 Test from 1928 to 1929) died aged 49.

1962: England pace bowler Neil Foster (29 Tests from 1983 to 1993; 88 wickets) was born.

1965: Australian pair of Bill Lawry and Bob Simpson put on 382 for the first wicket against West Indies at Bridgetown - still the best for the opening wicket for Australia.

1970: England batsman Chris Adams (5 Tests from 1999-00) was born.
