Tendulkar's 10,000
Master batsman Sachin Tendulkar went past the 10,000 runs barrier during his innings of 139 in the third one-day international against the Australians, at Indore, on Saturday.
Thus, the first individuals to go past the 10,000 run mark in Tests and ODIs are Indians. Sunil Gavaskar was the first player to cross the milestone in Test cricket, in 1987, against Pakistan.
The nearest contemporary players to Tendulkar's one-day record are Sri Lanka's Aravinda D'Silva (8,432 runs) and Australia's Mark Waugh (8,245 runs).
Mohandas Menon provides a statistical breakdown of Tendulkar's record right up to the 3rd ODI against Australian.
