Name:Gail Moreno
Query: regarding first aboriginal cricket team Could you please tell me the name of the aboriginal team that toured England in 1868 and the names of the players.
Mohandas Menon:
The Aborigines were in fact the first cricket team from Australia to visit England. They were brought over by Charles Lwarence in 1868, twelve years before the first official Australian tour to England in 1880. Lawarence, a Surrey cricketer, had gone out to Australia in 1861 and had remained there to coach the Albert Cricket Club of Sydney.
There were 13 Aborigines in the party of 17 players, all members of the now extinct Werrumbrook tribe Victoria. The team played 47 matches in England from May to October 1868. They won 14, lost 14 and drew 19 matches. The team had left Australia in February 1868 and returned a year later in Sydney on Feb 4 1869.
Interestingly only Twopenny and Johnny Mullagh later went on to play first-class cricket on their return to Australia.

Name:Ashwin Honkan
Query: I looked up Sachin's test career record and found that he has a very poor average (27 or so) in the 4th innings of a match that India lost or drew. Ditto in the 2nd innigs of a match after following on. There is only one match, vs Eng in 1990 that he helped India save by hitting a 100 in the 4th innings. Could you please check if my observations are correct ? It seems he does not perform well under pressure to help India save a match, something that Gavaskar and Viswanath were famous for. Thanks, Ashwin
Mohandas Menon:

Mohandas Menon:
The maximum runs scored off one ball remains as 10 - by SH Wood while playing for Derbyshire against MCC at Lord's in 1900. Wood sent a ball from CJ Burnup to the boundary and also ran four. Query: Hi Mohan, Sachin Tendulkar excels in bowling in the crunch situations when India needs him the most. I would like to know who played against India in Hero Cup Final at Eden Gardens Kolkata in 92-93 Season and How many wickets did tendulkar take in the final over?
Mohandas Menon:
The Hero Cup final was played at Calcutta on 27-11-1993 (season 1993-94) between India and the West Indies. The match you are referring is the semifinal match between India and South Africa on 24-11-1993 which India won by 2 runs. India batting first made 195 in 50 overs. South Africa in reply needed 6 runs of the last over with two wickets in hand. When Tendulkar bowled the last over he conceded only three runs and South Africa lost a wicket through a run-out. Hence India won by 2 runs. South Africa finished with 193-9 in 50 overs. Tendulkar's figures were 1-0-3-0.
