1896:
Australians Harry Trott and Syd Gregory put on a partnership of 221 runs for the fourth wicket in 161 minutes at Lord's, which was then the highest for any wicket in Test cricket.

1938:
Australian leggie Bill "Digger" Robertson (1 Test in 1884) died, aged 76.

1941:
Australia's pace bowler Graham "Grath" Mckenzie (60 Tests from 1961 to 1971; 246 wickets) was born.

1960:
South African pace bowler Geoff Griffin claims a hat-trick at Lord's. But he was no-balled 11 times for throwing during the Test and did not appear again for his country.

1971:
New Zealand off-spinner John Dunning (4 Tests from 1933 to 1937) died in Adelaide, Australia, aged 68.

1974:
India was dismissed for 42 in just 77 minutes and 17 overs against England, which is still the lowest by any Test team at Lord's.

1978:
Zimbabwean batsman Doug Marillier was born.

1987:
West Indian fast bowler Hines Johnson (3 Tests from 1948 to 1950) died in Miami, Florida (USA), aged 76.

1992:
Australian left-handed batsman Len Darling (12 Tests from 1933 to 1937) died aged 82.

1995:
West Indian spinner Inshan Ali (12 Tests from 1971 to 1977) died aged 45.

1905:
New Zealand fast bowler Ian Cromb (5 Tests from 1931 to 1932) was born.

1921:
Australian Charlie McCartney (345) blasts 345 in just 235 minutes in a single day against Nottinghamshire at Nottingham

1923:
Jack "Snaler' Hill, Australia's leg-spinner in 3 Tests from 1953 to 1954-55 was born.

1932:
India plays its first ever Test match, against England at Lord's.

1934:
West Indies' leg-spinning all-rounder Willie Rodriguez (5 Tests from 1961-1968) was born.

1934:
English left arm spinner Hedley Verity takes 14 wickets - six of them in the last hour, against Australia at Lord's on the last day.

1953:
Australian opening batsman Ian Davis (15 Tests from 1973-1977) was born.

1953:
Australian batsman Algy Gehrs (6 Tests from 1903 to 1911) died, aged 72.

1955:
England's off-spinning all-rounder Vic Marks (6 Tests from 1982 to 1984) was born.

1964:
Australian keeper Phil Emery (1 Test in 1994) was born. He replaced an injured Ian Healy.

1967:
Sri Lankan middle-order batsman Roshan Jurangpathy (2 Tests from 1985 to 1987) was born.

1971:
Australian born English Test batman Jason Gallian (3 Tests in 1995-96) was born.

1971:
Kenya's best batsman in ODIs, Steve Tikolo was born.

1983:
India upset twice world champions West Indies by 43 runs at Lord's to win the third edition of the World Cup.

1874:
English all-rounder Albert Relf (13 Tests from 1903 to 1914) was born.

1926:
Australian opener Warren Bardsley's hundred at Lord's makes him still the oldest at 43 years 202 days score a hundred against England in Tests.

1928:
West Indies lost by an innings and 58 runs its first ever Test match at Lord's against England.

1932:
South African off-spinner Henry Bromfield (9 Tests from 1961 1965) was born.

1937:
English batsman Walter Hammond against New Zealand at Lord's became then Test cricket's highest run-getter when he surpassed Jack Hobbs' aggregate of 5410 runs.

1944:
English batsman Billy Newham (1 Test in 1887) died, aged 83.

1951:
Australian left-handed all-rounder Gary Gilmour (15 Tests from 1973 to 1977) was born.

1959:
English batsman Audley Miller (1 Test in 1896) died, aged 89.

1961:
New Zealand opener David White (2 Tests in 1990) was born.

1967:
West Indian batsman Errol Hunte (3 Tests in 1930) died, aged 61.

1972:
Australian swing bowler Bob Massie on debut took his last and 16th English wicket at Lord's.

1976:
Zimbabwe's pace bowler Mpumelo "Pommie" Mbangwa was born.

1986:
England left-handed batsman Laurie Fishlock (4 Tests from 1936 to 1947) died, aged 79.

1987:
South African leg-spinner Glen Hall (1 Test in 1964) died, aged 49.

1886:
Australia's batting all-rounder Charles Macartney (35 Tests from 1907 to 1926; 2131 runs & 45 wickets) was born.

1912:
Australia's hard hitting batsman George Bonnor (17 Tests from 1880 to 1888) died, aged 57.

1917:
India's left-handed middle order batsman Kandu Rangnekar (3 Tests in 1947-48) was born.

1924:
English off-spinner Bob Appleyard (9 Tests from 1954 to 1956) was born.

1936:
For the first time in a Test match (between England and India at Lord's) - artificial means were used to dry the pitch.

1938:
Australian fast bowler Gordon Rorke (4 Tests from 1958 to 1960) was born.

1938:
Australian Bill Brown (206 not out) carries his bat through his team's total of 422 against England at Lord's.

1939:
George Headley (106 & 107) scores his second hundred of the match against England to become the first one to do so in a Lord's Test match.

1939:
Australian pace bowler Neil Hawke (27 Tests from 1962 to 1968; 91 wickets) was born.

1949:
New Zealand's Martin Donnelly (206) by scoring a hundred against England at Lord's completed a unique treble at this venue by scoring hundreds in a Test, the University and in a Gentlemen-Players' match.

1955:
Brian Statham (7-39) bowled unchanged for 3 3/4 hours to take England to victory over South Africa at Lord's by 71 runs. England had conceded first innings lead of 171 runs.

1968:
South African all-rounder Norman "Pompey" Norton (1 Test in 1909) died, aged 87.

1982:
India's Sandeep Patil (129 not out) set a world Test record by scoring six boundaries off an over from England's Bob Willis at Manchester.

1989:
Allan Border became the first to captain Australia to victory at Lord's on two occasions when his team won by six wickets.

28th June....

1886:
South African pace bowler Joe Cox (3 Tests in 1913-14) was born.

1888:
The first of the great West Indian batsman George Challenor (3 Tests in 1928) was born.

1915:
First of Australia's great batsman Victor Trumper (48 Test from 1899 to 1912; 3163 runs) died, aged 37.

1924:
Famous English umpire Frank Chester officiated in a Test match for the first time against South Africa at Lord's.

1926:
Englishman Jack Hobbs became the first batsman to aggregate 4000 Test runs during his innings of 119 at Lord's against Australia.

1928:
South African pace bowler Peter Heine (14 Tests from 1955 to 1962; 58 wickets) was born.

1930:
Australian opener Bill Ponsford (81) lost his wicket immediately after the teams has been presented to King George V at Lord's.

1932:
Amar Singh's 51 against England at Lord's, was India's first Test fifty.

1934:
West Indian quickie Roy Gilchrist (13 Tests from 1957 to 1959; 57 wickets) was born.

1938:
Don Bradman's unbeaten 102 at Lord's was the 200th hundred in Test matches between Australia and England. During his innings the Don surpassed Jack Hobbs record aggregate of 3636 runs between the two teams.

1969:
Current Test umpire John Hampshire's 107 against West Indies became the only English batsman to score a hundred on debut at Lord's.

1970:
Pakistani leggie Mushtaq Ahmed was born.

1991:
Australian fast bowler Ernie McCormick (12 Tests from 1935 to 1938) died, aged 85.

29th June...

1896:
England's right hand batsman and captain Harold Gilligan (4 Tests in 1929-30) was born.

1899:
England's left-arm spinner Johnny Briggs suffered a violent epileptic fit on the first day of the Ashes Test match at Leeds. He was detained in Cheadle Asylum and played no further cricket until next season.

1926:
Percy Hendren's unbeaten 127 for England against Australia at Lord's at the age of 37 years was the youngest of the four century-makers in the match.

1935:
South Africa's wicket-keeper Jock Cameron scores 90 in just 105 minutes at Lord's against England.

1939:
Australian pace Alan Connolly (29 Tests from 1963 to 1971; 102 wickets) was born.

1939:
West Indian left-handed batsman and the son of George Headley and father of England's Dean Headley, Ron Headley (2 Tests in 1973) was born.

1947:
Australian left-handed batsman Jeff Moss (1 Test in 1978) was born.

1949:
Australian batsman and the brother of George Giffen, Walter Giffen (3 Tests from 1886 to 1892) died, aged 87.

1958:
England batsman George Gunn (15 Tests from 1907 to 1930) died, aged 79.

1965:
English pace bowler Paul Jarvis (9 Tests from 1987 to 1993) was born.

1969:
English left-arm pace bowler Simon Brown (1 Test in 1996) was born.

1979:
Australian wicket-keeper-batsman Ben Barnett (4 Tests in 1938) died, aged 71.

2000:
The Lord's cricket ground in London became the first Test venue to stage 100 Test matches, when England played the West Indies.

South African leg-spinner Horace Chapman (2 Tests in 1914 to 1921) was born.

1899:
England's medium pacer Jack Hearne claims a hat-trick against Australia at Leeds.

1899:
England all-rounder Tom Emmett (7 Tests from 1877 to 1882) died, aged 62.

1915:
New Zealand batsman Gordon Rowe (1 Test in 1946; bagged a pair) was born in Glasgow, Scotland.

1924:
England scores 503-2 in a day against South Africa at Lord's - the only team to do so in Test history.

1933:
England batsman and captain Mike Smith (50 Tests from 1958 to 1972) was born.

1935:
English all-rounder Bill Brockwell (7 Tests 1893 to 1899) died, aged 70.

1941:
England batsman John Jameson (4 Tests from 1971 to 1974) was born in Bombay.

1941:
South African fast bowler Peter Pollock (28 Tests from 1961 to 1970) was born.

1953:
In one of Test cricket's classic rare guard actions Watson and Trevor Bailey saved England from a certain defeat by adding 163 for the fifth wicket against Australia at Lord's.

1967:
South African batsman Rudi Steyn (3 Tests in 1994-95) was born.

1969:
Sri Lankan left-handed opener and captain Sanath Jayasuriya was born.

1973:
India's pace bowler Dodda Ganesh (1 Test in 1997) was born.

2000:
West Indian Courtney Walsh became the first player in Test history to have batted and bowled twice in a single day's play - against England at Lord's.
