More all-rounders for
triseries: Borde

Board of Control for Cricket in India selection committee chairman Chandu Borde on Tuesday said more all-rounders could be accommodated in the Indian team for the triangular series, starting immediately after the Zimbabwe Test series, involving the West Indies and Zimbabwe.

"With Sachin (Tendulkar) and Sourav (Ganguly) opening the innings, quite a few all-rounders could be accommodated," Borde said over phone from Pune, ahead of the Wednesday's selection committee meeting to pick the one-day team.

"Let us wait and see, as we want to give a fair chance to everybody to prove their worth," he added.

Borde also praised India's "exciting performance" in the eight-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the first Test, and said the team can only get better from now on.

He said the team is combining well, "which is a very good sign for the future of Indian cricket".

"The way our boys performed in the first Test suggests that the team can only get better from now on, and I personally feel that this tour [Zimbabwe] will be a stepping stone for the team to win many more Tests abroad in the near future," Borde added.

"I think the batting has settled down nicely but I am worried about the two left arm seamers Ashish Nehra and Zaheer Khan. They should learn not to run on the danger zone during their follow-through and learn it real fast.

"The boys have to learn quickly as both can turn out to be match winners on their day," the former Test star said.
