Dungarpur says team's performance 'beginning to hurt'

Former chief of the Board of control Raj Singh Dungarpur said on Friday that the Indian team's performance in the ongoing triangular series in Sri Lanka is very disappointing and "beginning to hurt".

"I don't want to go deep into it but I think skipper Saurav Ganguly is making too many mistakes, which in turn is affecting the team's performance," Dungarpur said at Mumbai.

Dungarpur, who is the National Cricket Academy chairman, said former Aussie opening batsman and coach Geoff Marsh will be coaching Indian under-19 cricket team for the coming year.

"Marsh has been entrusted with the job of coaching the India 'A' side, which has a busy schedule this year. John Wright is in-charge of the senior team while former Test player Roger Binny is the junior team's coach. We wanted someone to coach India 'A' team and I think Marsh is the right man to do that," he added.

Dungarpur said the 'A' team's programme would start with the New Zealand 'A' side coming here or our team visiting New Zealand, while Pakistan 'A' team is likely to come at the end of this year as BCCI has already received a letter from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

"The Zimbabweans are very eager to come as well while the PCB is also interested in playing host to our under-19 side in October-Novbember, which will help them prepare for the under-19 World Cup in New Zealand next year," he added
