Ahmedabad Test probe unfinished
The Board of Control for Cricket in India is awaiting its Vigilance Commissioner K Madhavan's report on the controversial Ahmedabad Test in 1999, when India did not enforce the follow-on against New Zealand,
despite being in a position to do so.
BCCI president A C Muthiah told reporters in Madras on Sunday night that Madhavan completed his inquiry with batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar in this connection. He added Tendulkar was the third person to be questioned.
"But the officer has not completed his investigation yet," Madhavan added.
According to Muthiah, Madhavan is to question two more
persons before submitting his report.
Muthiah refused to divulge the names of the two persons,
but said, "They are not cricketers, but others who were
connected with the match."
He explained that Madhavan's report would be placed before
the next BCCI working committee meeting.
Tendulkar, who was examined as a witness only by Madhavan
before he left for the just-concluded Zimbabwe tour, had led the team in the controversial Test.
The Central Bureau of InvestigationI had probed into the match during its investigations in the betting and
match-fixing scandal.
