Rain delays day two of Wellington Test

Heavy rain in Wellington delayed the start of the second day of the second Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh on Thursday.

The prospects for any play were bleak, with a heavy band of rain sitting above Wellington. There was little wind when play was due to start at midday, but the forecast was for strong north-westerlies, which could improve prospects.

New Zealand dominated the first day on Wednesday, dismissing the tourists for 132, Aminul Islam top-scoring with 42.

Chris Cairns (two for 24), Chris Drum (two for 26) and Daniel Vettori (two for 57) were the chief wicket-takers.

At the close, New Zealand were 72 without loss, with Mark Richardson on 38 and Matt Horne, who was dropped at slip on seven, 30.
