Walsh to tour Australia

The lure of being the first bowler in history to get to 500 wickets has forced Walsh to confirm his availability for the coming Test tour Down Under.

Walsh told West Indies chairman of selectors Mike Findlay that he wanted to play in the five-Test series against Australia this summer, the Sun-Herald reported.

With a world record haul of 483 wickets from 122 Tests, the Australian tour would mark the end of an illustrious career for Walsh.

The recent Test series loss to England was supposed to mark the final appearance by Walsh and new-ball partner Curtly Ambrose in the top flight.

But Walsh appears keen to postpone his farewell with the historic 500 wicket mark within striking distance.
