Bollywood producer/financier Bharat Shah remains in jail 5 months after his arrest under the draconian Maharashtra Organised Crime Control Act, by which a person can be kept in jail for over an year without a trial.
As Bollywood continues to function, without any of the superstars Shah helped create coming in support of him, a small group of filmmakers continue to rally around Shah. They include Ram Gopal Varma, Rajkumar Santoshi, Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt, and Joy Augustine among others.
The official story continues to be the same: that Bharat Shah has been arrested for his links to the underworld. Yet, sceptics allege that Shah's arrest is part of a bigger picture and he is the victim of political vendetta.
