Towers can be either be standalone structures or as part of a larger structure. While the world's tallest building is Burj khalifa in Dubai, the world's tallest tower is Tokyo Sky Tree.

Height: 2,080 ft

The tallest structure in Tokyo situated on an island. It is also the second tallest structure in the world, after the Burj Khalifa.

2. Canton Tower (China)

Canton Tower, formerly Guangzhou TV and Sightseeing Tower, is an observation tower in the Haizhu District of Guangzhou. It is the tallest structure in China and the seventh-tallest structure in the world.

This is a free-standing television and radio tower in Moscow, Russia. Ostankino was designed by Nikolai Nikitin.

It is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers, currently the tallest in Europe and 4th tallest in the world.

5. Oriental Pearl Tower
Height: 1,535 feet

The Oriental Pearl Tower is a TV tower in Shanghai, China. The Oriental Pearl Tower is located in Pudong district, by the side of Huangpu River.

Designed by the Shanghai Modern Architectural Design Co, the main designers are Jiang Huan Chen, Lin Benlin and Zhang Xiulin. The construction began in 1990 and the tower was completed in 1994.

6. Milad tower (Iran)
Height: 1,427 ft

Milad Tower is the tallest tower in Iran. Built between the Shahrak-e Gharb and Gisha districts of Tehran, the head consists of a large pod with 12 floors, the roof of which is at a height of 1,033 ft.

Height: 1,329 ft

The China Central Television (CCTV) Tower is the tallest structure in Beijing, China. It has an observation deck at 238 metres (781 ft), and the tip of its antenna reaches a height of 405 metres (1,329 ft).

Built in 1992, it provides panoramic views over the city from its restaurant and observation deck.

The Kiev TV Tower is a steel tower built in 1973 for radio and television broadcasting. It is the tallest freestanding lattice steel construction in the world.

The Almaty Tower was built between 1975 and 1983 in Almaty city, Kazakhstan.

The tower is located on high slopes of Kok Tobe mountain. It is the tallest free-standing tubular steel structure in the world.

It has two observation decks, which are accessible by two high-speed elevators. It is however not open to the public.
