Samsung unveils Note 3 for Rs 49,900; smartwatch for Rs 22,990

Samsung on Tuesday announced the launch of its Note 3 smartphone priced at Rs 49,900 for Indian markets.

Coming as the most expensive and high-end phone from the Korean mobile maker, Note 3 would have advanced S Pen which will not only enable user to make note on phone but also give access to various applications.

Weighing 168 gms, the Android-based 3 would have a 5.7-inch screen and 13 Megapixel camera.

The phone, which will be available in black, white and pink, has 3200 MAH battery which would give a back up of about 24 hrs.

Samsung will also bring into, India its first wearable water resistant computing device Galaxy Gear for Rs 22,990.

Both these products would be available for sale in India from September 25.

Customers would have the option to buy the Note 3 in monthly instalments spread over a year.

"The Galaxy Note 3 represents the whole new evolution of the Galaxy Note experience. We have not increased width of the screen, but have increased the size of display," Samsung Country Head (Mobile & IT) Vineet Taneja said.

Note 3 would be available in 3G version in India.

The Gear would be compatible with most of the  Samsung Galaxy devises and the 10.1 tablet which the company would launch in October, Samsung Mobile Director Manu Sharma said.

Samsung will make available both Note 3 and Gear in 100 stores in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore from Tuesday.

Note 3 would have improved version of 'Find My Mobile' feature which will allow user to disable the phone when it is stolen or lost.

The KNOX would allow users to remotely track or erase the data from their lost or stolen Note 3 phone, Taneja said.

"Festival season is round the corner. So we will have buyback schemes for across portfolio," he said.

Design: To make the phone look premium, Samsung has changed the look and feel of the phone. The phone now comes with a soft and textured-touch back cover and delicate stitching.

Other than Black and White colours, Samsung will also sell the phone in Blush Pink colour. And, the company plans to offer exchangeable back covers in dozens of additional colours.

Camera: The 13 megapixel rear camera comes with Smart Stablilisation. Samsung has also introduced a new CRI LED flash, which enables users to crisply capture every visual, even in low light situations. The company claims that the new flash is better than the traditional ones.

Air Command: Samsung has redesigned the stylus for Note 3 and added extra functionalities to it.

If you click the S Pen while hovering over the screen, it opens up a palette of five features including Action Memo, Scrapbook, The Screen Write, S Finder and Pen Window.

Each of these features help user to conveniently access,, search and story information.

Security: Samsung added enhanced security solution KNOX to the phone, setting its eyes on corporate users, a niche long dominated by Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry Ltd.

This feature helps to protect against hacking and phishing attacks. It also secures personal data on the phone.

The smartphone is also equipped with an improved Find My Mobile feature that allows users to disable the phone when it is stolen or lost.

With the enhanced user authentication, the technology prevents stolen mobile phones from being reset to factory settings, and allows users to remotely track or erase the data from their lost or stolen mobile phones.
