Reveal names of Indians with black money abroad: Lalu

Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad on Tuesday said the government should disclose names of all Indians who have stashed black money in foreign banks and demanded that these money be brought back to the country and 'redistributed' among the poor.

"The black money stashed abroad is that belonging to the poor and the same needs to be distributed among the poor," he said in New Delhi while speaking to the press.

When asked as to how it should be distributed, Lalu said: "Let the money first come, then a policy on how to go about its distribution can be made".

He said the central government should disclose the names of Indians who have stashed black money in foreign banks.

Yadav's statement comes a day after the Supreme Court constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the black money issue.

Yadav also said there should be no exams for children up to Matric, as the high percentages for admission into higher classes would deprive the poor and downtrodden children from getting higher education, even as they would be left behind.

"With cut-off percentages going up to 100 per cent for admission to certain colleges in Delhi, how can you expect a normal poor child to compete with them and attain higher studies?" he asked.

The RJD chief also lashed out at the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar, saying "there was no law and order in the state and corruption was growing by leaps and bounds."

Terming Nitish Kumar as an 'NRI chief minister', Yadav accused him of befooling the people of Bihar by traveling abroad on the plea of bringing in power for the state.

Lalu said: "It is his (Kumar's) right to travel anywhere when in power and I am not jealous of him, but he should not befool the innocent people of the state."

He, however, said "one can buy as much power through PowerGrid as one wants by paying them up", while reminding the Bihar government to first create a network of transmission lines to help power reach every nook and corner of the state.

Yadav also sought the Centre's intervention in maintaining law and order in the state, as incidents of crime were increasing in the state each passing day.

Earlier, the RJD supremo hoisted the party flag at its office here to mark RJD's 14th Foundation Day and exhorted partymen to strengthen the party and continue working with the aim of uplifting the poor, oppressed and downtrodden.

While partymen pledged to take the party ahead, Yadav said "there was nothing to worry as ups and downs keep happening. The party's dream will not die. It is not just to get into power, but work against injustice and the poor and oppressed."
