Private sector lender HDFC Bank has emerged as the country's most popular bank for the year 2010 in terms of online visits, says a BankingOnly.com report.
According to a study by Indian banking information portal -- BankingOnly.com -- HDFC Bank attracted 417,360 online visitors per day to become the most popular bank of India this year.
The popularity of a bank is measured by the number of daily visitors on its website. The research report is based on reports from various ranking portals and analytical data.

2. ICICI Bank
HDFC Bank is followed by ICICI Bank with 400,000 visitors a day on its web site.

3. Axis Bank
Axis Bank is the third most popular bank with 159,000 visitors a day on its website.

4. State Bank of India
India's largest bank, the State Bank of India, bagged the fourth position, with 132,000 visitors.
SBI has, however, topped in the publics sector banks' segment.

5. Kotak Mahindra Bank
Kotak Mahindra Bank got the fifth position with 43,956 visitors every day.

6. Union Bank of India
Other banks in the list include -- Union Bank of India (sixth), IDBI Bank (seventh), UCO Bank (eighth), Bank of India (ninth) and Corporation Bank (10th).
The report said that Union Bank of India is most popular nationalised bank, which allured 29,748 visitors per day.
Bank of India turned out to be the most customer-friendly nationalised bank because of its customer-friendly schemes coupled with its portal's better quality and security features with 67,932 pages viewed per day.

In the foreign banks category, Citibank, which is hogging headlines for wrong reasons these days, emerged as the top banker.
Last month, a Rs 300 crore (Rs 3 billion) fraud was uncovered at Citibank's Gurgaon branch allegedly orchestrated by a relationship manager Shivraj Puri.
