Europe's tallest building with an irregular pyramidal shape from the base to the top, and clad entirely in glass was unveiled in London.
Standing tall at a height of 1,016 feet, The Shard includes apartments, offices, restaurants and a five-star hotel.
The 95-storey tower replaced the Southwark Towers, a 24-storey office block built in Southwark in 1975.
Designed by Renzo Piano, the tower has 72 habitable floors, with a viewing gallery and open-air observation deck – the UK's highest – on the 72nd floor, at a height of 245 metres (804 ft).
