The terminal was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year on July 3 but full international operations began only from July 28.

To mark the occasion, airport operator DIAL has decided to hold cake cutting ceremonies for passengers and a live musical performance will also be organised inside the terminal.

Apart from it, a grand shopping festival will be held inside the terminal, where passengers can avail of exciting offers and discounts up to 50 per cent at retail and food and beverage outlets.

The terminal, which is spread across 5.4 million sq ft, was completed in a record time of 37 months.

The massive project required 18,000 metric tons of structural steels to just build the roof, 100,000 sqm of curtain wall, 1,10,000 sqm of granite imported from Bahrain for floors, 1,70,000sqm of carpet material and nine lakh trees and plants for landscaping.
