A report of a joint inspection committee (JIC) - comprising experts from DMRC, Indian Railways and Reliance Infra - has revealed that the Airport Metro Express line had been rolling on a track that had 91 per cent of its bearings dislocated.

JIC had done site survey soon after the 23-km Metro corridor between New Delhi Railway Station and IGI Airport was shut on July 8.

According to the sources who confirm the findings of the report, but don't wish to be named, the train was allowed to run over a track, where "91 per cent of the bearings are defective or dislocated; 32 per cent have cracks, are torn or bulged; 81 per cent of the grout over bearing have cracked or disappeared; 33 per cent grouts under bearing are cracked; and cracks have appeared in seven per cent of the girders.
