The 918 RSR flaunts the 918 Spyder's mill, showcased at the 2010 Geneva show and its V8 motor is likely to be a development of the Spyder's 3.4-litre unit. The car's production version is expected in early 2012.
The Porsche 918 RSR is a race-bred and has features that complement this attribute. The car has an interesting central console and lots of aluminium dominates the interiors. Use of leather in the interiors is also generous.
The production RSR is likely to have a big rear wing, side-mounted exhausts and air intakes at either side and on top of the rear cowling. The RSR also has a hard-top and its doors open vertically.
Apart from these the RSR also has simple rocker switch set up along with gearshift indicator lights built into the steering wheel. RSR also indicates the current charge levels in the brake energy recuperation system with the help of a display.
The 918 RSR is designed to be lighter and things like the flywheel system (used in the 911 GT3 R Hybrid) and use of carbonfibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) do this job effectively.
