The top selling cars in India
Rising fuel prices and a series of interest rate increases by the Reserve Bank of India to control rising inflation has prompted potential customers to defer purchases of their dream cars.
As a result automakers in India posted their worst growth in recent times in May 2011.
Maruti Suzuki posted 1.9 per cent rise in sales to 104,073 cars in May and Hyundai Motor India's sales jumped 15 per cent to 31,123 cars.
However, India's largest auto company, Tata Motors reported a 9 per cent drop in sales of its passenger cars.
So, which is the highest selling car in India? Well, Alto from the Maruti stable continues to rule.
