Hyundai Motor India Ltd, which launched the luxury mid-size Fluidic Verna sedan recently said the company had received 5,000 bookings for the car within five days of launch.
H W Park, managing director and chief executive officer, said, "The Verna has many first-in-segment features and our customers have received the new version with unparalleled enthusiasm."
HMIL is looking at selling 45,000 units of the car within a year.

The base line petrol version is considerably cheaper than the Honda City, which is priced upwards of Rs 815,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Volkswagen Vento, in the meantime, is tagged between Rs 699,000 and Rs 923,000.

The pricing points are slightly higher than those for the Volkswagen Vento (diesel), tagged at Rs 799,000 and Rs 923,000.
The company expects 65-70 per cent of the sales to filter in from the diesel variant. Honda City has only a petrol version.

- 1.4 litre VTVT delivering 107PS@6300rpm of maximum power and 13.8Kgm@5000rpm of peak torque,
- The petrol 1.6 litre VTVT engine with 123PS@6300rpm maximum power and 15.8@4200rpm peak torque,
- Te Common Rail diesel 1.4 litre CRDi with 90PS@4000rpm max power and 22.43kgm@1750- 2750rpm of peak torque, and
- The diesel 1.6 litre VGT CRDi, with range topping 128@4000rpm max power and 26.5kgm@1900-2750rpm of peak torque.
