There has also been severe criticism that Narayanan's claim is false and it is just a gimmick from Tata Motors.
Narayanan explains how he achieved this feat Click NEXT to read on...Narayanan Menon, managing director of Aromen Engineering Company has been certified for the remarkable drive on the Coimbatore-Avinashi by-pass on May 25 2011.
According to Tata Motors, Menon's Tata Manza covered a long stretch of 72.3 kilometres on road by consuming only 1.58 litres of diesel, which translates to a mileage of 46.33 km per litre."After I bought a Manza car, I tested its mileage, found it is more than the certified figure of 21.2 km/ltr. I called Tata motors and tested the car many times. I got a mileage of 27, 31, 39, 24, 40.26 km/ltr respectively. I have been getting an average mileage of 28-30 kmpl," explains Narayanan.
"Once an auto magazine plotted my best mileage of 40.26 km/ltr and it was reported to the Limca Book of Records. They sent me the guidelines and we did the test as per their norms, and we clocked a mileage of 46.329 km/ltr, which was later certified," he clarifies.Click NEXT to read on
At an rpm of around 1440, the fuel efficiency of the vehicle is higher and at low rpm (especially idling and driving slow speed at top gears) fuel efficiency decreases rapidly, Narayanan.
If an individual can get 22.22 (just 2.22 km more) than their current average, say 20 kmpl, for 100 km run, you are saving half litre of fuel, which is a huge saving, adds Narayanan.
