New Maruti Swift is all set to launch on August 17. With new platform, roomier interiors, light weight and more mileage, the new Swift seems to have gone through a major facelift.
The New Maruti Swift has been around in the UK since 2010 and has also been voted the safest super-mini there lately.
So what is 'new' in the New Swift? And also, how does it fare against other cars in the same segment?
Since the Indian version is yet to be unveiled, these images are of the European version. According to sources, the Indian version will be similar to the one available in Europe.

What's new in New Swift?
Among visible changes are fresh looks, the front has extended swept back headlights, new grille, newly designed bumpers and a prominent air dam.
The rear gets new tail lamps, tailgate and a high loading lip.

The New Maruti Swift is expected to come with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel variants.
The engines have been tuned to be more frugal than the current.
The new Swift is likely to be 13 per cent more fuel efficient than the current version.

The New Swift petrol is likely to deliver 20 kmpl, however, ARAI has found it to deliver 17.9 kmpl.
Similarly, the diesel variant is expected to return 23.8 kmpl but ARAI has measured it to deliver 21kmpl.
It is expected that new Swift petrol car may also have a four-speed automatic transmission option.

New Maruti Swift vs Hyundai i20
Hyundai i20 has a 1.2L 80PS, Aluminium 4-cyl petrol engine.
The i10 automatic version has a 1.4L 100PS petrol engine while the diesel i10 has a 1.4L 90PS engine under the hood.
The Hyundai i20 entry level car is priced around Rs 50,000 more than Swift.
If the entry level New Swift is priced somewhere around Rs 500,000 then the difference will shoot up by Rs 90,000.
