On October 13, 2011 Korean auto major, Hyundai Motors launched Hyundai Eon mainly to target the A segment cars in India.
The auto giant has invested a whopping Rs 900 crore (Rs 9 billion) on this project.
Hyundai India introduced the cheapest car from its fleet at an introductory price of Rs 269,000 for Hyundai Eon base variant D-Lite, while the top variant Era costs Rs 371,000.
Maruti India has offered best deal with Alto Xplore at a surprising price starting at Rs 232,000 which Hyundai Motors have failed to offer despite their extreme effort to keep the cost down.

To counter the threat posed by Eon, Maruti launched Alto Xplore in India.
The limited edition variant Xplore, which is a tweaked version of the top variants Alto F8 LXi and Alto K10 VXi, was launched a few hours before Hyundai launched its Eon.

Hyundai Eon vs Chevrolet Spark
Hyundai Eon and Chevrolet Spark are more or less on equal ground in terms of external appearance.
Chevrolet Spark has a larger displacement of 995 cc churning out 63 bhp power as compared to 814 cc 56 bhp power generating engine of Eon.

Hyundai Eon vs Tata Nano
Eon may be the cheapest car from Hyundai's stable, but, it is certainly not the cheapest car in India.

Hyundai Eon vs Tata Indica eV2
The Tata Indica eV2 may also give cut-throat competition to Eon.
Certified by ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India), the car offers an excellent mileage of 25 kmpl.
The hatchback is powered with the all new CR4 common rail diesel engine and offers more interior space as compared to any of its contemporaries accommodating five passengers comfortably.
However, the interiors of Indica are more of 'taxi-type' and are out-dated compared to Eon.
The top variant of Indica eV2 costs Rs 481,775.
