8 stunning cars that will make you drool

The Bangkok International Motor Show is the biggest annual auto show in Southeast Asia.

It started on March 25 and will continue till April 5.

Let's cehck some of the cars that were on display:

Mazda3

The performance of Mazda3 is unquestionably impressive.

A newly developed engine range, coupled with improvements to braking and transmission, ensures this dynamic car is both powerful and agile.

The two new 2.2-litre diesel engines provide amazing fuel economy and go well beyond current emissions requirements.

Brand new specification features include a Bluetooth system enables you to connect your phone wirelessly and listen to your favourite songs on your MP3 player.

Mercedes-Benz CLS

The CLS marked Mercedes-Benz's return to the executive-size coupe market since the E-Class Coupe (a two-door sedan) went out of production in 1995.

The CLS-class was produced to combine the "strong, emotive charisma" of a coupe with the "comfort and practicality" of a saloon.

Save for its four-door design, the CLS's design tends towards a coupe, as its sleek roofline reduces the rear passenger room to a 2+2 arrangement, and it offers a smaller selection of engines tending towards high powered of the range, compared to contemporary sedans such as the E-Class.

Chevrolet Cruze

Near-mid-size interior dimensions make the Cruze the roomiest car in its class and it comes with two new high-efficiency engines that allow it to offer impressively frugal fuel economy numbers.

Overall fit and finish is also on par with the best in this market sector and particularly impressive is the level of exterior noise suppression.

Cruze also offers segment-leading passive safety features with 10 standard airbags.

The base engine in the Cruze, a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder (LS trim), and its optional 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder (LT and LTZ trim) produce an identical (138) maximum horsepower number.

The performance difference is in the higher torque output (148 lb.-ft) of the turbo engine and the lower engine speed (1,850 rpm) at which it's provided.

Bentley Mulsanne

The design of the new Mulsanne is a unique fusion of sportiness, coachbuilt elegance and solidity.

Echoing the Bentley S-Type of the 1950s, the Mulsanne features a bold frontal design dominated by the traditional Bentley matrix grille and highly prominent, classic round inner headlamps with chrome surrounds, flanked by two, smaller outboard lamp clusters, all featuring the latest in lighting technology.

The iconic 'Flying B' retractable radiator mascot is available as an option.

Jaguar XJ

The all new XJ's standard specification includes the choice of four interior color combinations:

• Jet seats with Jet upper fascia and Ivory headlining
• Cashew seats with Truffle upper fascia and Canvas headlining
• Dove seats with Jet upper fascia and Ivory headlining
• Ivory seats with Oyster upper fascia and Ivory headlining

There is also the choice of three veneers:

• Burl Walnut (standard)
• Satin Elm (no cost option)
• Carbon Fiber (available as an additional cost option)

Toyota FT-EVII

FT-EV is a great vehicle for the urban commuter.

It is ideal for someone who drives fewer than 50 miles a day, mostly on flat surface streets, and has easy access to recharging options, such as a personal garage or a recharging station on a city street.

The FT-EV shares the platform of the Toyota iQ, a lightweight, 4-passenger micro-car that is on sale in Japan and Europe.

With its lithium-ion battery, it will reach a top speed of 70 mph.

Proton Lekir

The Proton Lekir Concept is essentially a Lotus Europa with a Proton badge.

The Lekir does not feature the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine as the Lotus counterpart though.

Instead it gets a 1.6-litre turbocharged unit by Proton/Mitsubishi. It still outputs a reasonable 164kW of power.

Toyota FT-86

The FT-86 II is 4,235mm long, 1,795mm wide and 1,270mm high, with a 2,570mm wheelbase.

As per usual FT-86, the Toyota sports coupe showcases a long bonnet and swept-back cabin design, inspired by the original Toyota 2000GT of the Sixties.
