Soaring airfares? Airlines see record traffic

Despite rising airfares, the domestic aviation sector saw an impressive rise in passenger traffic.
From January to November, India's domestic airlines carried 468.09 lakh (46.8 million) passengers as compared to 393.53 lakh (39.3 million) passengers in the corresponding period of year 2009, a rise of 18.9 per cent, according to the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The overall passenger traffic for November hit a record high, rising by 25 per cent at 48.75 lakh (4.8 million) from 38.98 lakh (3.8 million) during November 2009.

2. Kingfisher Airlines Though Kingfisher Airlines retained its second position, its market share has fallen to 19.2 per cent from 20 per cent during August.
On time performance: 87.2%
Passenger complaints: 1.9
Flight cancellations: 0.9%

3. IndiGo India's largest low-cost carrier, IndiGo has beat Air India to bag the third position with a market share of 17.3 per cent from 16.4 per cent during August.
In November, IndiGo saw the highest passenger load factor (PLF) at 91 per cent.
On time performance: 80.6%

4. NACIL Debt ridden National Aviation Company of India, which operates Air India and Indian saw a dip in market share at 17.1 per cent from 18.3 per cent in August.
