Twitter CEOThe chief executive of micro-blogging platform Twitter is visiting the country next week.

This will be Dick Costolo’s first visit to India.

He will have meetings in Mumbai and New Delhi during his two-day stay, sources said.

India is one of fastest-growing markets for the California-headquartered company, with an estimated user base of 22.2 million, according to market research firm e-Marketer.

The latter said the growth of Twitter in India in 2015 is expected to be around 30.4 per cent, almost double than 2014’s.

Twitter had this year announced its first acquisition in the country, when it bought Bengaluru-based mobile marketing and analytics start-up ZipDial for an estimated $30-40 million.

Twitter is setting up a research and development centre in India by leveraging ZipDial resources.

Costolo joined Twitter in 2009 as the chief operating officer before being elevated as the CEO in 2010.

In 2014, the company reported $1,403 million in revenues, a growth of 111 per cent over the previous year.
