December 03, 2010 14:53 IST
TCSTata Consultancy Services said on Friday it has bagged a contract from Uttar Pradesh Government for establishing and managing the state's data centre for consolidating various applications.

The data centre would enhance the infrastructure required to consolidated the state level applications and would be interoperable with the existing infrastructure, TCS said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

However, the company did not disclose the financial details of the order received.

"The company will help us consolidated services, applications and infrastructure to provide efficient electronic delivery of government-to-government, government-to-citizen and government-to-business services," Uttar Pradesh principal secretary (IT&Electronics) Chandra
Prakash said.

Bolstered by the contract, the shares of TCS surged nearly 2 per cent to touch a year-high at Rs 1,112.

These services will be rendered by the Uttar Pradesh through common delivery platform, seamlessly supported by core connectivity infrastructure such as wide area network and common service centre connectivity extending up to village level, TCS said.

This is the third state data centre project TCS is implementing after Karnataka and Pondicherry under National e-Governance Plan.
