Bharti adds 1.50 mn DTH connections in Apr-Oct

Bharti Airtel adBharti Airtel said on Wednesday its digital services added 1.50 million customers between April and October this year and 60 per cent of its subscribers are from the rural region.

"We have added 1.50 million DTH subscribers in seven months starting from April this year while the total market added 5.5 to 6 million subscribers during the same period," company's director and CEO Ajai Puri told reporters in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Stating that the company now commands 30 per cent market share in DTH space in north, west and east, Puri said the majority of the new additions in terms of subscribers had been from the rural market.

"We are getting 60 per cent of our total subscribers from rural market and rest from the urban market," he said. To expand its reach further in the northern region, Bharti Airtel today also announced the launch of 'Free Connection' Offer in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

"This offer will give customers the advantage of Zero installation and activation cost with 12 months subscription to ultra pack at Rs 4,350," he said. In these four states, the company has covered 65 districts, 396 towns and 12,000 villages with its DTH service.
