The design center boasts of an information gallery where designers can get information on the latest trends in design and so on.

Japanese automaker Nissan has a Global Design Center that is located in the city of Atsugi, Kanagawa prefecture which is in the southwest of Tokyo.

This design center is also a part of the company's technical center.

At first, this center was incepted in the city of Yokohama, Kanagawa in 1954.

However, in 1982, the center was integrated with another one in Tokyo and then moved to Atsugi.

The current facility was inaugurated back in December 2006 and it was part of a programme that Nissan initiated in 2001 to expand its global design facilities.

The company's global design activities now take place at this hub itself.

There is also a theme called "collaboration and communication" where the studio has been designed to strengthen working relationships between different departments like product planning, engineering and supplier companies.

Nissan has been implementing a lot of digital design and engineering processes throughout the company and this design center has played a key role in that.

The center is full of people with diverse backgrounds who are showcasing their creativity.

The company wants to come up with attractive designs that excite customers.

The diversity of employees at the design center is not only limited to nationalities but also gender and generations.

Thanks to this diversified team work, Nissan is able to come up with nice designs for its vehicles depending on the market it is serving.

The design center also has different zones for separate projects where employees such as modellers, product planners, engineers, etc. can work together.

The design center also boasts of an information gallery where designers can get information on the latest trends in design and so on.

Nissan has five design centers across the world.

Two are located in Japan itself, one in the US (San Diego), one in London and one in Beijing. All of these centers join internal competitions to win design projects for Nissan, Datsun and Infiniti.

The redi-GO concept was seen at this design center and is the next launch from Datsun in the Indian car market.
