Long-term sentiment for airlines poor: AI chief

June 12, 2009 14:37 IST

Even though air passenger traffic picked up last month, the overall long-term sentiment for airlines is poor, Air India chief Arvind Jadhav said on Friday.

"In May, traffic was higher because of holiday season but long-term confidence is very poor," Air India chairman and managing director Arvind Jadhav told reporters on the sidelines of a conference in New Delhi.

Asked if the national carrier will follow some private airlines and cut fares for the monsoon season, he said, "We are adopting a wait and watch policy."
