Children should take the lead in making India a developed and prosperous nation by 2020 and inspiring their parents to fight against the menace of corruption, former President A P J Abdul Kalam said on Friday.
"If the children tell their parents to eradicate corruption, the vision of a corruption-free and developed India by 2020 will be fulfilled," he said, addressing the Silver Jubilee function of Padampati Singhania Education Centre in Kanpur.
The former
President, who interacted with the children after inaugurating a science exhibition, asked them to take a pledge to fight against corruption.
The India of his 'Vision 2020' would be a country where everyone would have access to potable water, good education and healthcare, poverty and corruption would be eradicated and crimes against women and children would stop, Kalam said.
For this, the young generation of the country would have to work hard, he added.
