British automaker Jaguar-Land Rover, the fully owned subsidiary of  Tata Motors has launched its compact sedan, XE, at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo.

The car sports a Rs 39.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) price tag, which will definitely help it go head-to-head with the likes of BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-class.

The automaker opened bookings for this sedan throughout the nation, about a month ago and considering that this is the most economical offering by the luxury automaker, it has garnered substantial interest in the market.

The XE is the entry level car from Jaguar Land Rover.

The Jaguar XE is the first car to feature an aluminium-intensive monocoque in its segment and it comes fitted with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol that will deliver 198bhp and 238 bhp of power.

There will also be a new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine with two states of tune – 160bhp and 178 bhp.

Both engines will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and will be rear wheel drive. The XE is based on an all-new aluminium platform that is lighter, enhancing performance and fuel efficiency.

The Ingenium engines are the new generation Jaguar Land Rover engines, replacing the existing 2.2-litre Ford engines.

The fully-loaded XE will have bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, sunroof, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated navigation, reverse camera, premium leather upholstery and least six airbags.

The XE is equipped with torque vectoring by braking and All Surface Progress Control (ASPC).
