The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 petrol engine that generates 390 kW (530 hp) and 830 Nm of torque.
The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard is the first vehicle that met the highest ballistic protection standard (commercial armoured sedans) – VR 9.
Externally, it’s identical to the regular Mercedes S-Class. It is for the first time that the S 600 Guard is available both as a 4-seater and a 5-seater.
The car was launched in May last year in India for a price of Rs 8.9 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
The base structure of the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard, which is integrated into the bodyshell at production stage, features a specific reinforcement for extra strength and stability.
The protective elements are smartly integrated and overlapped to keep away the fact that it’s the ‘Guard’ variant from outsiders, and also, to make the passengers feel the car as luxurious as a regular Mercedes S-Class.
Good stopping power is ensured by larger brakes with six piston calipers.
To mask the additional weight gained from the security modifications, the air suspension has been toughened up.
The wheels are shod with exclusive Michelin PAX run-flat tyres that provide a 30 km driving range in damaged condition. There’s also an automatic fire suppression system and an emergency fresh air system in the cabin.

Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet
The Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet has been unveiled in India for the first time at the Auto Expo 2016.
First unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) in September, the Mercedes S Class Cabriolet marks the return of the open-top S-Class that was sold from 1961 to 1971.
Needless to say, the exterior and interior is identical to the Mercedes S-Class Coupe.
The convertible version’s soft top is packed above the automatically extending luggage compartment partition and takes around 20 seconds to be opened and closed.
The roof open/close functions can be operated at speeds up to 60 km/h.
The roof can be opened or closed from outside the car too, using the electronic key.
An automatic wind protection system called ‘AIRCAP’ is available optionally.
It consists of two components – a wind deflector which is set with a net into the roof frame, and a similarly extendable draught-stop behind the rear seats, with a convex contour and stainless steel trim.
The wind deflector is finished body colour. Also optional, is neck-level heating feature called AIRSCARF.
The 2016 Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet premieres Thermotronic intelligent climate control system that unlike conventional climate control systems, doesn’t require the driver to select a mode for closed or open top.
The driver doesn’t even need to save a temperature setting for the two roof modes.
The AC unit is fully networked and communicates with numerous vehicle components. 12 sensors and 18 actuators work on providing an ideal cabin climate in all conditions, and the sensors also detect the solar radiation level.
The S-Class Cabriolet is powered by a 4.7-litre twin-turbo petrol engine good for 335 kW (449 hp) and 700 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission.
With this engine, 0-100 km/h can be reached in 4.6 seconds. Top is electronically limited to 250 km/hr.
Mercedes GLC
Mercedes-Benz has showcased the upcoming Mercedes GLC at Auto Expo 2016. The successor to the GLK will hit the Indian market this year.
The design of the Mercedes GLC aptly conveys its all-road capabilities with a modern touch. The front fascia has an upright twin-louver radiator grille flanked by optional LED headlights.
The lower portion sees a wide air dam with large air intakes on either side. The lateral view comes with a sharp sloping shoulder line, flared wheel arches and an optional side running board.
The posterior has been given split-LED tail lights with night design, twin tail pipes and a roof spoiler.
The GLC is based on the MRA architecture and has dimensions of 4,655 mm, 1,890 mm and 1,638 mm in length, width and height respectively.
Mercedes has revamped the interior with the dashboard and center console featuring a more flowing design, that when combined with the one-piece panel, lends the car an elegant feel.
The automaker has employed high-class materials for the cabin, like nappa leather or open-pore wood trim to enhance the premium quotient.
The centrally positioned media display can be controlled through a newly-developed touchpad that supports handwriting recognition.
An optional panoramic sunroof can also be asked for to enhance the sense of space.
