February 26, 2005 14:29 IST
The BJP on dubbed the 2005-06 Railway Budget as "lacklustre and insipid" saying Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has failed to come out with any revolutionary measure for the growth and development of the train network. "It was expected that he will do something for ushering in major changes for the welfare of passengers and improve the working of the rail network. But, nothing has been done," BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said.
Debabrata Biswas of Forward Bloc, which lends outside support to the UPA government, came out in full support of the Budget saying it was popular and in the right direction.
Senior Congress leader K Karunakaran described the document as a people's budget but regretted that his home state Kerala had been ignored by the Railway Minister.
