February 26, 2005 13:47 IST
Under its 'Look East Policy', India will provide training to railway personnel from BIMSTEC countries free of cost. This was stated by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad while presenting the Rail Budget for 2005-06.
He said the offer was made at the first meeting of the railway chief executive officers of BIMSTEC countries held in New Delhi last September and the gesture was widely appreciated by member countries.
An International Railway Strategic Management Institute under the aegis of Union of International Railways would be established in India and the initial module of the first course for railway managers would commence in Paris in May this year, Prasad said.
