RevathiRevathi
Revathi is one of the finest actresses to emerge from the South. Avoiding the run of the mill roles involving the usual running-round-trees routine, she went on to play roles of character and sensitivity, in the bargain earning the sobriquet “Shabana Azmi of the South”.

Unfortunately, Indian cinema, especially South Indian cinema, remains mostly of the "masala" genre, where one of the primary requisites is young heroines who can play romantic leads opposite the male lead. In such a situation, even the talented Revathi had to take a bow and move on to the small screen of television.

A producer for popular television shows today, she is now aiming to make her debut as a director.

Like other South Indian stars, including contemporaries, she admits that one day she could be in politics!
