The civil aviation industry was poised to generate about 20 lakh (2 million) jobs in the next five years, Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said in Mumbai on Friday.
"There is a lot of demand for pilots and technicians... with the opening of the civil aviation sector there will be plenty of jobs available and this will come through a number of services not just technical but also non-technical such as marketing and finance," Patel said while inaugurating the ninth Techset, annual inter-collegiate technology festival at

Like IT, he said, aviation too would generate a lot of job opportunities and it would lead to economic progress.
The minister said the Union government was looking at providing more opportunities to the educated youngsters to demonstrate their skills.
"We have 55 crore (550 million) population under the age group of 25 years but at the same time the challenge in front of us was to provide them with job opportunities," he said. Click here to search for lowest airfares!
